SUPPLEMENTAL COACHING VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
Anticipated Opening for 2024-2025 Winter Season

Assistant Freshman Girls Wrestling - Range VI – Harding

Description:
To lead, promote, and facilitate student athletes to achieve maximum potential in the chosen activity/sport by instilling ethical values, teamwork and a winning attitude. To assist the head coach in the organization of practices and meetings to teach and promote the fundamentals of the activity/sport.
Qualifications:
• PASP – Pupil Activity Supervisor Permit issued by The Ohio Department of Education, which includes:
-Fundamentals of Coaching
-Concussion Education
-Valid CPR Certification
-First Aide/Health Safety
- A thorough knowledge of the sport/activity that is being taught
- Sudden Cardiac Arrest Training – Lindsey’s Law
- Alternative to the above qualifications as superintendent and/or board of education may find appropriate
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- An thorough knowledge and background of the sport that he/she is coaching
- Ability to work effectively with others
- Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively both orally and in writing
- Effective, active listening skills
- Organizational and problem solving skills
- Knowledge of child development and an understanding of age appropriate tasks
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Interacts in a positive manner with staff, parents and students
- Establish and maintain cooperative relationships
Essential Functions:
- Exhibit professional behavior, emotional stability and sound judgment
- Respond appropriately to crisis situations (i.e. emergencies, employee/parent concerns)
- Ensure the safety of students
- Set a good moral and ethical example for athletes, the student body, and community
- Work cooperatively with the Head Coach to better the athletic program
- Conduct oneself in an ethical manner during contests and practices
- Assist the Head Coach as directed during practices
- Notify parents of athlete(s) needing medical attention, refer for a physical and keeping records
- Assist in the inventory and dissemination of athletic equipment
- Be present at all practices and ensure that all student-athletes are accounted for after practice
- Cooperate with other sports/coaches to develop a total athletic program
- Promote good public relations by personal appearance, attitude, and conversation
- Maintain good attendance and punctuality
- Work cooperatively with the teaching staff, administration and parents
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in the compilation of lists to be submitted to the Athletic Director
- Act as scouts when needed
- Attend special events such as pep assemblies, homecoming, and parent's night
- Assist in the decisions regarding athletic awards
- Keep abreast of new techniques and innovations by attending clinics and reading material
- Be able to assist and attend Athletic Booster and Athletic Council meetings
- Promote the program to parents, students, and the community
- Assist in the collection of required student athlete forms, pay-to-participate fees, etc.
- Instill in students the belief in and practice of ethical principles and democratic values
- Maintain appropriate licenses/endorsements and training hours as required
- Adhere to all standards established by the Ohio Department of Education for Licensed Educators
- Refer suspected cases of child abuse immediately to the appropriate child protective services/law enforcement agency as mandated by state law and Board of Education policy
- Be able to use athletic software
- Follows Board Policy
- Other duties as assigned by the Head Coach
Equipment Operated:
- First aid kit
- Motor vehicle
- Sport appropriate equipment such as batting cages, golf carts, blocking sleds, goal posts, etc.
- Potential use of technology (computer, cell phone, etc.)
Additional Working Conditions:
- Occasional exposure to bodily fluids
- After school and weekend work
- Requirement to travel both daily and possibly overnight
- Occasional operation of a motor vehicle in inclement weather conditions
- Lift, carry, push, and pull various supplies and materials up to a maximum of 50 pounds
