JOB DESCRIPTION – CLASSIFIED TITLE: School Bus Aide for Students RESPONSIBLE TO: Transportation Supervisor DEPARTMENT: Transportation CLASSIFICATION: Bus Aides LENGTH OF CONTRACT: Nine month contract - 188 days (hours dependent on bus route) GENERAL DUTIES: To assist and help monitor and control the behavior of Students being transported to and from school. SPECIFIC DUTIES: Assists and monitors all students at pickup, discharge, and transfer points, as they get on and off the bus. Monitors behavior of the students and helps to see that they are adhering to bus rules and regulations Works with the bus driver to fill out transportation incident reports when corrective action is needed. These forms are then turned over to the Transportation Supervisor, who in turn delivers the reports to the appropriate building principal In the event of an accident, assists the driver in the evacuation of students. Assists the driver and students in the event of a medical emergency. Performs such other duties as assigned by the Transportation Supervisor/designee. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Ensure the safety of students Ability to work effectively with others Exhibit professional behavior, emotional stability and sound judgement Establish and maintain cooperative relationships Interacts in a positive manner with staff, students and parents Ability to work in a team environment Promote good public relations by personal appearance, attitude and conversation NOTE: The above lists are not ranked in order of importance.
