JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE: Substitute Cook
RESPONSIBLE TO: Head Cook
DEPARTMENT: Cafeteria
GENERAL DUTIES: Helps heat and serve meals and cleans up all facilities and equipment in an acceptable manner.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
- Performs the duties assigned daily by the head cook.
- Assists in the preparation and service of all menu items.
- Cooperates with the head cook in meeting serving time deadlines.
- Maintains a clean and orderly work area.
- Assists in the instruction and direction of student help in the cafeteria.
- Stores food in a proper and sanitary manner.
- Practices all recommended sanitation procedures.
- Applicants must have a high school diploma or the equivalent.
- Basic math skills required. Computer skills are preferred or willingness to be trained.
- Operates all commercial kitchen appliances as needed.

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; and taste and smell. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. You must be capable of lifting no less than 30 pounds.
- Performs other related duties as requested by the Head Cook, Food Service Supervisor and/or the Principal.

- Establish and maintain cooperative relationships
- Interacts in a positive manner with staff, students and parents

- Promote good public relations by personal appearance, attitude and conversation
